Part-time HR Assistant – Employment/Benefits
Job Summary:
The Human Resources Assistant will assist the Human Resources Manager with complex and specialized administrative tasks including identifying, recruiting, and screening potential candidates for specific open positions at the Village of South Holland. Manage and oversee personnel files, and generate reports. Assist with Benefits Administration and monitor Unemployment compensation claims.

Duties/Responsibilities:
· Consult with the various departments to understand the requirements, duties, and qualifications desired for any vacant positions.
· Work with Marketing to arrange for the posting of vacant positions.
· Post vacant positions on other sites as identified by the hiring manager.
· Respond appropriately to each applicant via email/telephone.
· Screen candidates, select qualified candidates for interviewing, and schedule interviews with the hiring committee.
· Counsel candidates on the interview and hiring process.
· Attend job fairs and other networking opportunities.
· Develop processes to ensure a great experience for candidate and hiring managers.
· Assists manager with Benefits Administration including open enrollment, onboarding and off-boarding employees, and resolving benefits issues.
· Assists manager with unemployment compensation claims including providing documentation to support protests, etc.
· Assists with human resources initiatives.
· Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills with aptitude in conducting interviews.
· Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail is a must.
· Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
· Working understanding of human resource principles, practices, and procedures.
· Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related Software.
Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources
· At least two years of human resources or related experience required
· PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred
