ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Under the general direction of the Director of Public Works, Public Works Supervisor, or a Public Works Crew Leader, employees in this class perform a variety of entry-level and skilled municipal work as a member of a crew or an individual engaged in the construction, demolition, installation, and repair of Village Assets. These tasks involve manual labor that requires the use of hand tools and the operation of light and heavy equipment in all weather conditions. Work will include the construction, demolition, installation, and repair of water, sewer, and stormwater lines, as well as street maintenance, sanitation, parks and grounds maintenance, and property maintenance work. Work also includes driving a pickup or dump truck to collect garbage, leaves, limbs, appliances, furniture, and other yard waste and trash, as well as performing routine horticultural tasks, street sign maintenance, and minor facility and equipment repairs. Work assignments are repetitive and can usually be performed with little supervision.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma/GED equivalent is required,
- Possession of a valid driver’s license,
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License or the ability to acquire,
- Maintain that License and Endorsements without interruption throughout their employment with the Village.
- Minimum of one year of experience in maintenance, construction, or repair work on municipal infrastructure or an equivalent combination of education and experience
