The South Holland Community Center, which has been closed to the public since March due to COVID-19, will be reopening in phases. A set of safety guidelines will be in place at each phase.

Here are the anticipated reopening dates:

July 6 – Pool Re-opens

  1. There will be one lifeguard stationed outside the public locker rooms to check in pool users and check temperatures. Another guard will be stationed inside to help pool users to their assigned seats and enforce the mask policy.
  2. Only the public locker rooms are available for use.
  3. The lockers in the public locker rooms will be closed off and only the restroom areas and the shower will be available for use.
  4. Lap swimmers, walkers, and private swim will be assigned in 45-minute intervals starting at 7:00 am. The last swim times will begin at 5:00 pm. There will be 30-minute intervals in between for cleaning and check-in for the next group.
  5. All pool usage fees will be a la carte: $2 per day for members and $5 per day for non-members. All private swim or lap swim must be paid for at least 24 hours in advance at the Community Center. No refunds will be given.
  6. We will take a combination of 9 people in the pool at a time (lap swimmers and/or private swim).
  7. Each person who registers will be assigned a number and the corresponding number will be used in the lobby area for their assigned waiting area and for their area on the pool deck as well.
  8. Each person will only be allowed to sign up for one time slot per day.
  9. A sign-up sheet will be at the front desk with 9 time slots per hour for the pool.
  10. The times of 7:00 am to 12:00 noon will be designated for lap and pool users only. Private swim will be allowed from 12:00 noon until 5:00 pm. During private swim times we will keep the three lanes available for lap swimmers.
  11. No one with a temperature above 100.4 degrees will be allowed to enter the building.
  12. No SHRS equipment will be available. It is recommended that all  pool users provide their own aquatic weights and equipment .
  13. All areas will be sanitized regularly.

July 11 – Rentals for Groups of 50 People or less

July 13 – Fitness Center Re-opens and Outdoor Recreation Classes begin

  1. All fitness center reservations must be paid for at least 24 hours in advance at the Community Center.
  2. There will be a staff member stationed at the front entrance doors to check temperatures and masks.
  3. Only the public locker rooms are available for use.
  4. The lockers in the public locker rooms will be closed off and only the restroom areas and the shower will be available for use.
  5. Fitness Center reservations will be assigned in 45 minute intervals starting at 7am.The last times will begin at 8pm.
  6. Since we are not currently charging for memberships fitness center usage will be ala carte. $2 per day for members and $5 per day for non-members.
  7. We will take a combination of 9 people in the fitness center each hour.
  8. Each person will only be allowed to sign up for one time slot per day.
  9. A sign-up sheet will be at the front desk with 9 time slots per hour.
  10. No one with a temperature above 100.4 will be allowed to enter the building.
  11. All areas will be sanitized regularly.

July 20 – Gym Re-opens
