WAGE: Starting at $32.00 per hour
The Village of South Holland, Illinois, a leading suburb located 25 miles south of downtown Chicago with a population of approximately 22,000, is actively seeking candidates to fill the Crew Leader position with the Public Works department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Under the general direction of the Director of Public Works or Public Works Superintendent, an employee in this class performs a variety of skilled work as a member of a crew or an individual engaged in the construction, demolition, installation, and repair of Village Assets. An employee in this class plans, organizes, assigns, and supervises the on-site work of crew members assigned to the construction, demolition, installation, and repair of streets, as well as to public right-of-way maintenance. Work includes planning on-site work, maintenance, and emergency needs; ensuring the crew has proper tools and equipment; and ensuring the crew follows safety procedures. Employee coordinates work with property owners, answers and resolves public complaints, and serves as crew leader on assigned projects and events.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma/GED equivalent is required (Two-year Associate’s degree in relevant field, preferred),
- Five (5) years’ experience in municipal water, sewer, stormwater, street, or park construction and maintenance, or other similar construction experience;
- High school diploma/GED equivalent is required,
- Possession of a valid driver’s license,
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License,
- Maintain that License and Endorsements without interruption throughout their employment with the Village.
