Part-Time Property Maintenance Inspector

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the general direction of the Residential Code Manager, this position is responsible for the collective safeguarding of life, health, public welfare and protection of property through regulation and enforcement of the Village’s Property Maintenance Code.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

This role is responsible for performing but not limited to: Responding to property maintenance complaints and patrolling assigned neighborhoods (zones) in a fleet vehicle to inspect and identify property maintenance deficiencies. Areas of focus are illegal storage (trash), overflowing and misplaced garbage containers and overgrown grass or weeds. All work and notices are tracked in specialized computer software requiring data entry of the relevant information, uploading and sorting digital photographic records into digital folders. Outstanding customer service is critical and the role requires interacting with coworkers, property owners and residents in a professional and gracious manner.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Administrative office or inspectional services experience; or any combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge skills and abilities for this job. A High school diploma or GED equivalent required. A successful candidate must be able to maintain a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward coworkers and residents at all times. Additional key skills are a keen attention to detail and accuracy, an adeptness at organization and multi-tasking, and a desire to serve the public. The role requires the daily use of a computer, email communication, Microsoft Office suite, and specialized inspection tracking software.
