The Village is continuing its Lead Water Service Line Replacement Program to improve water quality and replace aging lead water lines throughout the community.

The project is funded through the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) State Revolving Fund (SRF) Program, including debt forgiveness funding that helps cover project costs for residents.

What Is a Water Service Line?

A water service line is the small pipe that connects your home to the water main in the street. In some older homes, these pipes may be made of lead.

What the Project Includes

Replacement of lead water service lines with new copper pipes
Restoration of disturbed landscaping after construction
No cost to eligible residents participating in the program

The average replacement cost is approximately $10,000 per home, but this program allows qualifying service lines to be replaced at no direct cost to residents.

Participation Information

Participation in the program is voluntary, but strongly encouraged.

Residents selected for this phase of the project will need to sign a simple agreement allowing crews access to complete the work.
