Due to the impacts of the July 3 storms and the threat of additional severe weather today, the Village of South Holland has made the difficult decision to cancel all Independence Day festivities scheduled for July 4.
The fireworks launch zone at Veterans Park has experienced significant flooding from last night’s storms, making it impossible to safely conduct tonight’s fireworks show. The fireworks will be rescheduled for a later date, which will be announced on the Village’s social media channels and at southholland.org as soon as it is determined
In addition, due to the forecasted threat of thunderstorms this afternoon, today’s Family Fun Fest (12-4pm) has also been canceled.
Veterans Park will remain open to the public until 8:00 p.m. today. The flooded area has been secured and roped off, and we ask all visitors to stay out of the restricted area.
If you purchased tickets for tonight’s fireworks show, your tickets will be honored at the rescheduled event.
We know many families were looking forward to celebrating with us today, and we sincerely appreciate your understanding. We look forward to celebrating together when the fireworks return on the rescheduled date.
